Old Copacabana Site – 268 West 47th Street, New York, NY

268 West 47th Street was the longtime home of the historic Copacabana nightclub, one of New York City’s most famous entertainment venues and a landmark of Times Square’s cultural history. Originally opened in 1940, the club hosted generations of legendary performers and became synonymous with Midtown Manhattan nightlife. As the building evolved through new uses and renovations, improvements to the aging exterior envelope were required to meet modern performance, safety, and energy standards.

As restoration architect and building envelope specialist, responsibilities included the design and coordination of a full façade replacement. The project addressed long-term durability, water tightness, fire rating compliance, and energy performance improvements. Work included evaluation of existing façade conditions, development of replacement wall assemblies, and coordination with contractors to ensure the new exterior envelope met current building codes while improving overall building performance.
